Run the only "mountain" on Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast! Blue Mountain Beach that is! Both the 1/2 marathon and 10K are run over Florida's Scenic 30A which splits sugar-white sand beaches and rare coastal dune lakes. Enjoy the beachside villages of Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton, and Seaside before and after the races. A one of a kind course!
The 1/2 marathon will start at 7:00 a.m. with the 10K starting at 7:05 am.
The races will start approximately .2 miles north/west of the 30A/Defuniak Road intersection which is Grayton Beach.
The start/finish is just up (west) 30A from the Grayton Beach General Store (32 E County Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459). You'll start on 30A run south (east) on 30A, after approximately .2 miles, turn right on Defuniak St , left on Holtz, left on Banfill, left on Lydia Ave, right on Defuniak, right onto the recreational path (not the highway) that parallels 30A, to a turn around just at the beginning of Watercolor after which you'll retrace your steps back to go left on Defuniak, left on Holtz, left on Banfill, left on Lydia, right on Defuniak, left onto the recreational path (not 30A) that parallels 30A and continue up the recreational path until taking a left onto Blue Lake Road (yup, there's a hill there), continue on Blue Lake (it's a tar and gravel...not a smooth ...road) until it dead ends (stop sign) where you turn right on Blue Mountain Beach Road, continue on Blue Mountain Beach Road until it intersects (Y intersection) with 30A at which time you go left onto the recreational path (not onto 30A) that parallels 30A and run it until a turn around at or near the Gulfview Place/30A intersection (near Goatfeathers Restaurant) and then retrace your steps back towards the start so....run on the recreational path paralleling 30A until a right (sorta a Y) onto Blue Mountain Beach Road, left on Blue Lake Rd, right on 30A (recreational path at this point), to the finish which is near the start at the 30A/Defuniak (Grayton Beach) intersection. Though this is Florida, you'll find that this course rolls and climbs enough to keep it fun and interesting! (You'll be essentially uphill from Blue lake road to the Goatfeathers turn around...but it's essentially all downhill from there!) This is the same course as the last few years BUT we've got a new start finish!
10Kers...You've got a new course from previous years. More scenic...you'll have water views, dune lakes, and a nice neighbrhood...PLUS, it's really flat and fast!

Don't want to run the full marathon? Split it up! One runner runs the first 10K (6.2 miles) and the other runs the rest of the course (6.9 miles)...finishers medals to both!

Sand Dune Relay: (also new this year!)
Run Saturday and Sunday. Run the 30A 5K on Saturday and the 1/2 Marathon relay on Sunday!
Both relay members complete the Saturday 5K and then split the 1/2 marathon on Sunday with one runner running the first 10K (6.2 miles) and the other running the rest of the course (6.9 miles)...1/2 relay finishers medals to both! Special awards for competing both days!
The combined number of runners for the 1/2 marathon and 10K is 1500. Runners will be chip/electronically timed.
All pre-registered finishers in the 10K, 1/2 marathon, and 1/2 marathon relay will receive finishers awards. Late registrants are not guaranteed a finishers medals at the finish line BUT may receive on post race via mail...handling/postage fees will apply for mailing of medals.
Overall and Age Group Awards
Awards will be given to the top 3 overall female and male runners, the top Masters (over 40 years old) male and female, the top Grandmasters (over 50 years old) male and female, and the top 3 females and males in each age group. Age groups begin at 14 and under, 15-19 and are 5 year increments thereafter. Age group awards will be medals or a similar award!
NOTE: We try to give out awards as soon as possible after the race is completed. We have to rely on the timing company for the results and want for them to be complete when we do the awards ceremony. Though chip timed, this takes time. Please be patient!
Also, we do not mail awards unless arrangements are made with the race directors.
30A 5K & Kids race: Pre-race , race morning only from 6:45-7:45 am Nick's Restaurant, 2210 West Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, FL (across from Big Daddy's Bikes)
Blue Mt Beach 1/2 Marathon & 10K: 2:00-6:00 pm at Pandora's Steakhouse and Lounge, 63 Defuniak St., Santa Rosa Beach, FL;
and, pre-race at Pandora's from 6:00-6:45 am.
Blue Mt Man/Woman & Sand Dune Man/Woman: If you are pre-registered for either of these, you may pick up your race packet for the 1/2 marathon or 10K immediately following the 30A 5K. No other packets will be available that morning.
Registration will be available for all races during packet pick up!
WE DO NOT MAIL PACKETS IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE THE RACE! PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US AFTER THE RACE WANTING YOUR PACKET!
Due to it being a “holiday weekend” all of the hotels that we contacted for a special race rate were slow to respond to our request…..couldn’t imagine that Columbus Day created that much traffic…Be that as it may, the Candlewood Inn (850-337-3770) and Comfort Inn (850-654-8611) are within 20-30 min of the race site and have decent rates.
Post Race Party and Awards Ceremony
We'll be holding a post race party with food, beverages, and more at PANDORA'S following the races. The awards ceremonies will begin as soon as practical/possible following each race. We reserve the right to begin the awards ceremonies before each race is completed. Don't miss the post race festivities!!
